Bhaineamar taitneamh as na gníomhaíochtaí éagsúla i rith Seachtain na Gaeilge.  Bhí tráth na gceist ar siúl sa halla.  Bhí ceachtanna rince ag na buachaillí.  Mar is gnách in ár scoil, ghlac na buachaillí páirt i gceolchoirm mhór ar ‘Lá Glas’, an lá roimh Lá Fhéile Pádraig.  Bhí a lán Gaeilge in úsáid timpeall na scoile.  Tar éis Seachtain na Gaeilge, bhí gach buachaill sona sásta.  Buíochas le Ms Mulhern agus an Coiste Gaeilge.

Our senior athletics team took part in an event run by the Dublin City Sport and Wellbeing Partnership.  The boys were delighted to compete at the National Indoor Arena in the Sports Ireland Campus.  Every athlete did their best, with Star of the Sea taking first place in the 4 by 100 metre relay.  Our tanks are extended to Mr Collins and Ms O’Hara for training boys in the senior school each week and to the parent volunteers who accompanied the boys to the event.

As part of Catholic Schools Week, Ms Doyle’s junior infant class welcomed their grandparents to the classroom.  The boys were so excited to receive their guests.  It was a great morning of fun and excitement!  Thanks to all the grandparents who were able to attend.

Our debating team performed to a high standard throughout this school year.  The boys took part in four competitive debates, reaching the quarter final of the Concern School Debating Competition.  Led by their captain, the team members demonstrated greater and greater skill in the art of debating with each outing.  Unfortunately, the team narrowly lost their quarter final following an excellent performance.  All of the debates took place on Zoom, with the debating team using the school library as a venue for meetings and broadcasting their debates.  Our fifth and fourth class groups have tuned into these debates and the next generation has no doubt been inspired.  We look forward to participating in competitive debating again in 2024/2025 and we are certain that all of the boys in sixth class have benefited from an in-depth introduction to the process of effective debating.  Our thanks are extended to Ms Kavanagh for mentoring the team this year.

The pupils in our junior school recently completed a six-week gymnastics course with Mark Holland.  Our senior school boys are presently enjoying their block of gymnastics.

Our school held several events to celebrate Christmas in 2023.  The Star of the Sea Parents Association hosted a wonderful Christmas Fair in the school on Sunday the 3rd of December.  Our boys sang beautifully during our school carol service on the evening of Thursday the 14th of December.  As always we held our service in St. Mary’s, Star of the Sea Church and we were supported in doing so by the parish team.  Just before the Christmas holiday, we had a very special visitor call to our school: Santa Claus met every Star Boy in our school hall.
