Star Curriculum

At Star of the Sea we embrace the experiential learning approach set out in the Irish primary school curriculum. The school seeks to extend this curriculum in many ways.

STEM

Star of the Sea BNS is a certified Digital School of Distinction. Each year the school enters a team to the RDS Science Blast, an exhibition for young scientists. Each classroom is fitted with a state-of-the-art smart board.

The school has a stock of maintained hardware such as laptop computers, iPads and Lego Wedo 2.0. Each pupil of Star of the Sea receives a subscription to the ‘Reading Eggs’ website. Pupils in 2nd class to 6th receive a ‘Mathletics’ subscription.

We use See Saw and G Suite to supplement teaching and learning where appropriate. During Maths Week, Science Week and Engineers Week, the school welcomes guest speakers to explore special topics with our pupils and engage in a variety of STEM-related activities.
