Star of the Sea B.N.S. Junior Infants
Star of the Sea BNS recognises the importance of a good start to a child’s primary education. The junior infants learn within the Aistear framework that celebrates early childhood as a time of being, of enjoying and learning from experiences as they unfold. Our infant classes are equipped with the learning resources necessary to encourage active learning. The bright, ventilated classrooms are filled with natural daylight all year round. The junior infant play area to the front of the school contains play equipment designed to cater to the needs of infant boys amid a green setting with trees, plants and grasses. We avail of every opportunity available to see our new Star Boys enjoy each other’s company and enjoy the school day.
For Parents of Boys Due To Commence Primary School
Our school hosts an Open Evening each autumn. Parents may visit Star of the Sea and meet current pupils. Each May we hold a Welcome Night for parents whose children have been admitted to Star of the Sea. In June we invite our incoming pupils and their parents to a play date in the infant playground. At this play date, the boys have the opportunity to meet each other as well as their new teacher and principal. There is an after-school childminding service, Realtoga, located on the same site as Star of the Sea. It is possible to arrange for Realtoga staff to collect your son and mind him until you are ready to collect him. For boys in the senior school, there are a number of activities available that are delivered by service providers who rent our premises. These include an Afternoon Club (one hour in duration, Mondays to Thursdays) for boys in 2nd to 6th class, Drama, Tennis, Chess and Art Classes.
