We celebrated Maths Week during October. All boys took part in fun maths activities during which they measured, solved, hypothesised, reasoned, searched, connected, improvised, communicated, estimated and guessed their way through special activities organised by the teachers. At our school assembly, the boys took turns to solve problems on the big screen that had been posed and illustrated by fellow pupils. Some very young pupils spoke in front of the entire school as to their answers and the thought processes behind them. These were among the best instances of maths talk during maths week! Classes took part in maths trails, shape hunts, maths quizzes, paper aeroplane distance measuring competitions, and other enjoyable pursuits. Two star boys shared the contents of the sweet jar, having each come within one of estimating the exact number of sweets! We pay particular credit to the boys in our senior school who were paired with younger pupils for some activities. They were kind and helpful to their fellow star boys!
