Autism-Specific Special Class Project

Autism-Specific Special Class Project

Star of the Sea BNS has opened an autism-specific special class.  At present this is a partial class situated in a mainstream classroom without ancillary facilities. The Board of Management is actively working to create adequate facilities on site which will allow pupils, staff and other professionals the opportunity to experience as much success, happiness and quality teaching and learning as possible while at our school.
The Board of Management has established this partial class in advance of the necessary facilities being in place due to the level of urgent need for special class places in the parish and local community.
The Board of Management will be in a position to extend the class to the typical full size (6 pupils) only after the planned facilities have been constructed on site.
Star of the Sea BNS is being supported by the Department of Education in creating these necessary facilities.
The Board has appointed a consultant who will oversee planning, construction and delivery of this project. The Board wishes for stakeholders in the community to be informed as to the progress of this project.
This page will be updated as the key dates for delivery of the project become established.
