International Women’s Day

12th May 2025

We were delighted to welcome guest speakers from the school and local community to Star of the Sea.  Our guests spoke to the boys about their lives and career journeys in the fields of business, public service, the professions and sport.  It was a wonderful way for our boys to celebrate International Women’s Day and we thank the Parents Association for their assistance in making this event possible.

Literacy Week and World Book Day

12th May 2025

We celebrated Literacy Week in February.  Every class took part in fun reading and literacy activities such as book swaps, paired reading, library trips, DEAR time, literature quizzes and book reviews.  We hosted a book fair in the school hall and dressed up for World Book Day!  As always, we extend a huge thanks to the Parents Association for staffing the Book Fair and our school’s own lending library.  We are very grateful to our teachers and parents for creating a fun environment each year during Literacy Week.

We celbrated Science Week in Star of the Sea again this year.  We enjoyed carrying out fair tests and interesting experiments.  Our Sixth Class team represented our school with pride at the RDS Science Blast.  Our project was titled ‘How long can you go without blinking?’ and they presented this to all visitors and judges at the fair.

Seachtain na Gaeilge

12th May 2025

Bhí Seachtain na Gaeilge á cheiliúradh againn ar fud na scoile i mbliana. Rinneamar iarracht bhreise cluichí a imirt, ceachtanna a fhoghlaim agus spraoi a bheith againn trí Ghaeilge.  Bhí comórtas againn sa scoil (Comórtas na Doirí) féachaint cén rang a d’fhéadfadh an doras a dhéanamh an ceann is Gaelaí!  Chríochnaíomar an tseachtain le ceolchoirm agus thugamar cuireadh do thuismitheoirí. Rinneamar ár dteanga agus ár gcultúr a cheiliúradh!
