Dress-Up Day
Our Star Boys came to school in fancy dress to celebrate Halloween.
GAA Training
Our fifth and sixth class pupils have begun training with our senior football squad. The school intends to enter a team to compete in the Cumann na mBunscoil competition to take place in spring of 2022. Our boys have been delighted to resume training under our coaches (Mr Collins, Mr O’Maonaile, Mr Ó’Brollacháin, Mr Neary and Mr Walsh). All pupils in fifth and sixth class are welcome to train with their group and prior experience of Gaelic games is not required.
New School Year
The 2021/22 school year commences on Tuesday the 31st of August. School begins at 8:40 AM for all pupils.
We are excited to welcome back all of our returning pupils and to welcome our incoming junior infant pupils to Star of the Sea.
Our caretaker has done excellent work during the summer months and our school is spotless. We will continue to employ measures throughout the school to safeguard against the spread of COVID-19.
New Cricket Kit
We received a brand new cricket kit from the parents of the graduating sixth class of 2021. We hope that the Leprechaun Cup and other playing opportunities will resume during the 2021/22 school year. We are thankful as always to our wonderful coach, Mr Kenny Carroll, who resumed working with our boys this year as soon as it was declared safe to do so. The new cricket kit is worn here by Bruce Whaley, a sixth class pupil. Bruce has recently been selected to play for the Leinster under-13s and we wish him well.
Sports Training
Well done to our pupils who resumed sports training during the final term of this school year. Thanks to Mr Collins, Mr O’Maonaile, Ms Kavanagh and other teachers, our Star Boys were able to resume football, hurling and athletics. We hope to be in a position to resume competitive sport during the 2021/2022 school year.
