We celebrated World Book Day at Star of the Sea. Our Boys dressed as characters from their favourite books. We reflected upon how fortunate we are to have access to books and writing materials. We had D.E.A.R (Drop Everything and Read) Time in each classroom. We read for pleasure and to learn about things and we celebrate reading each World Book Day.
Star Boys from our fourth, fifth and sixth classes took part in the Dublin City Cross Country Race Series in John Paul Park, Cabra today. Each boy tried his very best in difficult, wet running conditions. Our teams performed very well and Star of the Sea won the trophy for Best Overall School. This success would not have been possible without the twice weekly training that our boys do under the coaching of Ms Judge, Ms Moloney and Mr Collins. It is wonderful to see the boys improving month on month. We will rotate our school’s cross country squad for the next event as we have so many talented runners training each week.
We are celebrating Literacy Week this week in every classroom. Our boys have participated in writing workshops, book reviews, paired reading, ‘fresh air’ reading and visits to Ringsend Library. We look forward to celebrating World Book Day!
Our cross country athletics squad recently enjoyed a Santa Hat Relay competition this week in Sean Moore Park. The boys showed how much their strength and stamina has progressed during this fun event. Our thanks as always to our cross country coaches: Mr Collins, Ms Judge, Ms Moloney and Ms Kavanagh.
We are marking Science Week from November 7th to 14th at Star of the Sea. The theme of Science Week 2021 is ‘Creating Our Future’. In each class we are emphasising hands-on activities and scientific tests. The boys have enjoyed using science kits that the school recently invested in.
