Co-Curricular and Extra-Curricular Offering
At Star of the Sea, we seek to embrace the curriculum in its broadest sense. Here are some of the co-curricular and extra-curricular offerings that our pupils benefit from:
- Well-stocked school lending library (Free of charge)
- 8-week block of high-quality gymnastics lessons for all pupils (Free of charge)
- 9- week block of high-quality swimming lessons for pupils in 3rd to 6th classes (Subsidised, contribution sought from parents)
- Participation in guest teacher seminars, drum workshops, engineering workshops, science and maths workshops for pupils in all classes each school year (Free of charge)
- Mathletics subscription for all pupils in 2nd to 6th classes (Free of charge)
- Participation in school competitions and events including transportation to and from these events. These include the RDS Science Blast; GAA Cumann na mBunscol school competitions; Leinster primary school cricket competitions; various cross country athletics competitions including those run by Cumann na mBunscol, Dublin City Council and Clonliffe Harriers; Concern debating Competitions; the National Children’s Choir; etc. (Free of charge. Parents are charged entry to competition finals in Croke Park and orchestra-accompanied concerts by the National Children’s Choir)
- Twice-weekly training in Gaelic football or hurling throughout most of the school year for pupils in 4th, 5th and 6th classes (During lunch breaks, free of charge)
- Twice weekly training in cross country athletics throughout most of the school year for pupils in 4th, 5th and 6th classes (During lunch breaks, free of charge)
- Afternoon Club lasting one hour for pupils in 2nd to 6th classes, Monday to Thursday (After school. Private service provider. Fees charged)
- French and Spanish language lessons (After school. Private service provider. Fees charged)
- Calm Club - well-being and mindfulness practices (After school. Private service provider. Fees charged)
- Lego Club (After school. Private service provider. Fees charged)
